Margo Shapiro Bachman

Margo Shapiro Bachman, MA, RYT500 is a nationally certified Ayurvedic practitioner who holds a BS in Botanical Sciences and an MA in Education.  Her Ayurvedic training has been primarily through private and small group study with Dr. David Frawley, Dr. Vasant Lad, and Bri Maya Tiwari. Margo has been a private student of Dr. Frawleys’ for over ten years and has been trained by him to provide Ayurvedic consultations for wellness and to treat specific diseases. She received additional clinical training from Dr. Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute. Margo spent over twenty years immersed in the study and practice of  western herbal medicine and now is a student of Dr. Aviva Romm as she continues her study of herbal medicine, specifically for women’s health.

Margo has been a yoga practitioner for over twenty four years. Her teaching and studies are based on the approach developed by T.K.V. Desikachar: adapting the practice of yoga to meet the needs of the individual. She studied at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, one of the leading educational institutions for yoga therapy in India, under T.K. V. Desikachar and continues to study therapeutic applications, yoga philosophy and Vedic chanting with Sonia Nelson. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level and has taught yoga in a variety of situations to specialty populations for fifteen years. Margo has taught prenatal yoga for many years and continues to offer public prenatal yoga classes and also private therapeutic yoga  sessions.

Margo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a consultant, teacher and writer. She loves making the ancient teachings of Ayurveda and Yoga accessible, understandable and relevant to life today. Her private practice focuses on women’s and children’s health.

Margo lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband and two children.
